Ph.D. Position in Cyber Security Economics at Twente University Center for Cyber Security Research (TUCCR)
Overview
The Twente University Center for Cybersecurity Research (TUCCR) is a public-private partnership between the University of Twente and several leading organizations in the field of cybersecurity, aimed at strengthening the security and digital sovereignty of society by performing top-level research on real-world data and network security challenges. The mission of TUCCR is to deliver talents, innovations, and know-how in the domain of cybersecurity by combining technical, socio-economic, and ethical know-how and utilizing state-of-the-art infrastructure, including security labs, testbeds, data lakes, and dedicated attack-defense environments.
The High-tech Business and Entrepreneurship (HBE) department, part of the Faculty of Behavioral, Management, and Social Sciences (BMS) are now seeking a highly motivated individual to join the department as a Ph.D. candidate. The Ph.D. project focuses on developing data-driven tools and metrics for evaluating the security decision-making process of businesses. The ultimate goal of this project is to aid managers in making rational security decisions, optimizing the efficiency level of these decisions, and making organizations digitally safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research in the field of cybersecurity and security decision-making
- Develop data-driven tools and metrics for evaluating the security decision-making process of businesses
- Collaborate with colleagues, researchers, and other university staff on the project
- Publish research findings and participate in conferences and workshops
- Mentorship and supervision will be provided by the Twente Graduate School
Qualifications and Skills
- MSc degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field
- Proven experience in primary data collection and data analysis
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, in English
- Strong teamwork skills and an ability to work with a highly motivated and enthusiastic group of scientists
- Independent research ability and a willingness to develop writing and publication skills
Our Offer
- A full-time 4-year Ph.D. position
- Gross monthly salary of € 2.541 in the first year, increasing each year up to € 3.247 in the fourth year
- A holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%
- 29 holidays per year in case of full-time employment
